Who We Are
New Dominion Alternative Center is Prince William County's cornerstone for at-risk middle school students. We serve approximately 150 students ranging in grades six through eight. Students are typically referred to our program because it is believed they will perform better in a smaller interactive school environment.

-Improving academic motivation, and
-Remediation and improvement of academic skills.
It is New Dominion's mission to help build a child's self-esteem while achieving a higher level of success in academic and social skills.
New Dominion Alternative Center serves the entire county, including Manassas City and Manassas Park City.
The New Dominion Alternative Center is a unique program that is geared towards each individual student in order to help every student be successful. New Dominion offers multiple types of educational environments that include, but are not limited to: "traditional" classroom setting, balanced approach between online and "traditional" classroom, all online classes, half-day classes, after-school classes, or at-home virtual classes.
The entire program is one of enrichment! The students are able to earn different Enrichment activities that they get to choose each year. For example, there is a basketball team, softball team, robotics, service learning, online programs, etc.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & SPORTS
New Dominion competes with other Prince William Alternative/Special Education schools in both basketball and softball.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
New Dominion has launched a Service Learning initiative that has provided the students working with local communities to help make a difference. New Dominion also welcomes parents to participate in their Advisory Council that meets at least twice a year. New Dominion also offers after school parent sessions to help them learn and understand some topics that they may be experiencing with their teenager. If you would like more information about this, please contact Ms. Hartnett-Smith at 703.361.9808.
WHAT MAKES OUR SCHOOL UNIQUE?
New Dominion is unique because its approach to work with students is largely on an individual basis. Class sizes are so small, that we are able to work with students, instead of groups of students.
